buying vinyl from abroad
I am trying to buy an album from Europe via ebay. It comes with a warning sign before checkout:
Due to US customs policies, the buyer of this item will need to pay import fees to the shipping carrier prior to delivery.
Has anyone been through this, what is the process? Does customs sit on the merchandise for days, weeks? I know other countries tend to charge ridiculous amounts and hold the item hostage for months potentially.

Let me tell you a tale of that time i bought a record from a broad. As soon i Put the double O on her I thought she may have been a bad hat, a bunco artist or an ally worker and that i had unwittingly walked into a caper or i was soon to be in cold storage. She said 'you got the cabbage?" i said yeah, I'm a good egg. I flashed a sawbuck and asked, how do i know this isn't a flimflam? She stepped out of the shadows and said "there's a gin joint around the corner, shall we dip a bill?" One look at her lamps and i would have followed her anywhere. I said sure, i could nibble one. We found the place, i held the door for her and watched her ankle past me real slow, darn if that dame didn't have the sweetest gams i had ever seen. What a dish, A real sheba. We found a table in the back and that is how i met your mother. To this day we put that OG 78 rpm of The Voice of Frank Sinatra on the table and drink gin. . |
