so, you did get the 8!! how do you like it?
are you satisfied with the lower registers when played low at night?
your speaker has the good stuff, so its just up to the speaker volume to sound full and satisfying at low levels
Sourcepoint 8 or Sourcepoint 10?
Hello All - I am going to have to replace my Apogee Stages at some point and I am considering the MoFi Sourcepoint Speakers - 8s or 10s. I know that they are going to be very different than my current speakers but I want something that can be listened to more casually (not always in the sweet spot), and I like a warmer big sound. My listening area is about 14 by 16 with 9ft ceilings and the back of the listening area opens to the dining room area that is another 14 x 16. I can place the speakers up to 3 ft out from the wall. I also like listening to music in the late evening at lower levels. In addition, I have a Rythmik subwoofer that can stay and could add a second if needed to calm room misbehavior. Asking for thoughts or experience with these speakers.
BTW - My digital chain runs through a Denafrips Venus II 12th and my Analog is an older Linn Sondek LP12 with Ittok LV !! (Black) Arm and Ortofon MC X40 into a Linn Linto phono stage.

Congratulation, Op. I miss that part. SP10 ME x’over uses high-quality parts such as polypropylene film capacitors, air-core inductors, and metal film resistors, and it only costs $260 per pair incl. shipping (unheard of). How much does Danny charge, plus shipping? Most importantly, it includes a 3-level switch for high-frequency tuning to suit the room, as well as a two-board design for a cleaner signal path. As far as the 3khz (2?) impedance spike is concerned, I think AJ have fully addressed it along with phase angle (although no shown here).

The GR Research upgrades also use much larger and heavier gauge air core inductors and improved caps including a Sonicap in the tweeter circuit. The parts only upgrade with the Sonicap is $680. There were not any changes to the original component values. My understanding of the tweeter attenuation switch is that the 10 seems to be a bit harsh when they were on axis to the listeners ears. The 8s did not seem to have that same issue in the reviews. Not sure why since they use the same tweeter. Maybe the geometry of the 10 inch driver vs the 8 inch driver made it a bit louder.
