Innuos Pulse Incoming

Im pulling the trigger on an Innous Pulse, upgrade from Bluesound Node 2i (my first and only streamer) which is currently connected to my amp via COAX.  Would like feedback on what is the best way to connect the Pulse to a McIntosh MA8950-  Coax, S/PDIF, USB?  Also, what ethernet cable do you all suggest, what CAT?

Thanks

Hi , I have the Pulse Mini with a LPS into a Yiggy with the newest USB card. As said above you will have  to decide which clock to utilize. I went with the USB, but you have the MAC. Maybe check online with the Cable Company as they offer advice and have a library you can rent from. For me I went with a Wire World Starlight Platinum USB. When I want a softer presentation I use a Cardas Clear. Happy Hunting , Mike

I just got an Innuos Pulse. Originally had a Cambridge CXN V2. Then I got a Holo Spring 3 KTE with preamp DAC. Ran the CXN V2 through the Holo with a coaxial cable. The CXN V2 didn't have a USB out. It great upped the quality of the Audio coming from the CXN V2. Now I have the Pulse running into the Holo via a Tubulus Concentus V2 USB cable. All I can say is that I am done upgrading my system. If you get the hankering to upgrade my suggestion would be a Holo Spring 3 KTE with the Preamp and the Tubulus Concentus V2 USB. cable. I've gone through the used market place for 90% of my system. Found great deals on all of it.

I suggest one of the Network Acoustics cables.  NA has highly regarded products and even their entry level is very good.  They have a return policy that lets you try before you buy.  Get one USB and one Coax and spend time comparing the sound and return one.  In my system my Statement Next gen sounds better thru S/PDIF vs USB.

The reason products like the Phoenix exist is USB is noisy and adds processing noise when used on either end.  S/PDIF has limitations like no USB and doesn't do the superHiRez but to me it is more organic and mellow.  If you are into DSD or over 192kHz then use USB.

You can also compare NA's Ethernet cables and/or filters.  I have purchases several NA products and kept them all.

I strongly believe in Ethernet filters and use either the NA or SOtM dcbl Cat7 in my system.
