Just a few more comments about my set up so that you can see how it relates to what you are trying to achieve.
I have my SP8s on the stands that come with them. The front of the speakers are about 30" from the rear wall and about 8' apart. The subs are outside the speakers and are about 5" from the rear wall....but I have them oriented with one driver facing forward and one driver facing the rear wall (yes, a strange positioning but the best overall bass in my room).
I'm streaming Tidal over the Lyngdorf TDAI 1120...60 watts per channel....which is plenty of power to play LOUD if you so desire.
Not using Room Perfect or the PEQ...in other words, just listening in "neutral" mode on the 1120, the 8's are smooth but detailed, throw a huge and deep soundstage...and the sound doesn't disappear when you stand up. I've owned a lot of "types" of speakers over the years and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. The 8s were my first journey into concentric drivers...count me as a big fan...they just sound good on virtually everything.
These aren't mine, and I'm not sure I would buy a modified speaker but these just popped up on USAM.
