Onkyo A-50 vs Buckeye Purifi 1ET6525SA

My wife is in love with the looks of the A-50. I'm thinking I might be better off with the Stereo Purifi Amp and a Wiim Ultra as the preamp for now. More power, possibly more robust. We have a CD Player and a cheap Audio Technica turntable for now. Speakers are BMR Towers, 4-6 ohm and 85 DB. Listening distance is about 9 feet in a 14 by 14 by 8 foot room.

What are your thoughts on the Onkyo vs the Buckeye? Which set up would you go with?

This will be only for music at least for now.

Appreciate your input. Thank you.

@parkergetdean those Moonriver are beautiful. I’d have to save up a bit to get one though. I also love the look of the Technics SUG700 MK2. How ever I think it might not have enough power.

Has anyone heard the new Quad3 or Leak 230?

The Moonriver didn't get much love here, people think it's overpriced.

I had the Quad Vena II, it was a fantastic amp. I would imagine anything Quad produces is pretty awesome.

@chanur I don’t think you would regret getting into the Onkyo Icon series. I would go with the M80 power amp either combined with the WiimUltra as a preamp, or with the amazing P80 preamp. The M80’s specs equal the Buckeye’s and the Icon series has some innovative technology that promises to be something really special. Plus, I think your wife would love it and you more for it, as @skeptikal notes.
CheapAudioMan reviewed the M80, Tom Fine in April’s Stereophile reviewed the A50.

Asked her for her thoughts on the M80. She loved it as well. Out of like 20 amps only the Onkyo ones she has actually liked. Something about the design speaks to her I guess. I'd have probably preferred a Schiit Wotan or Buckeye for all the extra power. How ever the Onkyo are nice looking so it's not the worst thing in the world. Probably will push for the M80 and get the P80 later. It will give me reason to complete the set.
