Need Amp Advice from the Collective

What amps are a synergistic fit with Maggie LRS+ that won't break my 76 year old back? I am currently using a Bryston 3B3, which at ~300 watts > 4 ohms has gobs of power, certainly more that I use, but it is a bit clinical, lacks midrange magic, is a tad bright, and could image better. See my profile for the rest of the system.

Pass Labs XA30.8 or X150.8, or Coda No.16 are obvious choices, and I'm certain they would sound great. But they are all 90-110 pounds! I wonder about some of the lower powered Coda's (S5.5, S150, S20) if they would have enough to fire up the Maggies? Comments?

I have been down the Class D road, and while they certainly have their charms, I don't think they will produce the magic I want.

My room is kind of large at 25 x 25 x 8, but the listening area is about 1/4 of that with the speakers about 8-10 feet from my listening position.

Thanks in advance!

@markmuse

Your posts indicate that you prefer Class A and find Class D lacking. This is a perfectly sensible (and, might I say, accurate in most use cases) conclusion. Unfortunately, high-current Class A amps are heavy by definition.

My suggestion is to focus on Class A monoblocks. Half the weight. I don’t even know why anyone would ever buy a stereo amplifier.

On the higher level... not so sure why weight is a problem. How often does a person move their amps?

@markmuse

i can also highly recommend the Accuphase P4600 Amplifier for a slightly warm liquid midrange and excellent low end. Creates a wide and deep soundstage as well. I was also concerned about amplifier weight. While the P4600 is around 65lbs it was easy to pick up as it has handles that are built into the heat sinks on the side and handles on the back making easy to move. Plus the heat sinks are rounded on the edge and very smooth so no issue about causing discomfort. Wonderful amp and yes it looks great. Also has a top notch build. You will be impressed.

For heaven's sake,  just find/hire someone to pick the darn thing up.  I got my son to lift my Pass INT-60 to the rack and haven't looked back.

Hello markmuse.  Stark Sound Fiera 4, great price, superb performance (smoother on top than the Purifi), huge power in the 2 channel mode, returnable if you don't like it. How can yo lose?  Enjoy the music!
