@fiesta75 having to use analog (for 5.1 SACD), how good is players DAC (vs the receivers)? And no Audassey (appears that Audassey only works on the digital side), and that would also rule it out in my case (very 'challenging' 5.1 speaker setup where Audassey is needed to make it work).
Sony UBP-x700 or Denon DVD-1930CI with Denon AVR-4520CI for SACD
Don't like the 'no display' plastic Sony x700 I currently use via HDMI to my Denon 4520.
Found a used Denon 1930CI that is more substantial and plays SACD. But I don't think it puts out DSD over HDMI (only PCM)? Analog may not allow DSP, Audyssee (and not sure how good the 1930CI DA is). Noticeable difference?

@deep_333 How good is the display of the 800, and how 'solid' (heft, feel) is it? Both points are the only reasons for me to look for an alternative to the 700. |
It has a solid metal chassis and stuff going on for vibration control, etc. Nevertheless, set it on some low duro sorobathane. There’s no money spent on a dac, there’s no dac. All the money got spent to make it a good transport and... only Sony can give you something at this price probably. If someone like PS audio or the like tried to give you the same thing, they would buy the drive from a Japanese giant, put their logo on the outside, sink some money into a built-in dac and the price may become $8000. Only the Japanese know how to do these things well dude... I think i mentioned what all it can do on my previous post. Buy it, send it back in the return window, if it didn’t suit your fancy for 300 dollars. One con...it will go into standby on its own if unused for a bit, you can’t turn off auto standby (unless there’s some firmware update recently, haven’t checked). They decided it for you and took away your "freedoms" to leave it on, may not suit a "freedoms" lover. @kraftwerkturbo wrote
