New to this hobby please help me
Hi all i’m unsure on what speakers to get i have a marantz sr5011 my budget is 4,000 for floor standing speakers. I found a local deal on some golden ear technology t66 the red ones for$3800. But how do i pick without the ability to listen to other brands kef sonus faber etc!! Is golden ear even good what suggestions do you have on hearing lots of brands under one roof. My listening is 50 percent music 50 percent movies.

@wizzard Awesome choice! Those are the ones I demo'd and they were fantastic! Congrats! As far as figuring out room treatments, I like the "stuff of life" concept. That's basically having a "normal" living space. If you clap your hands loudly and can hear echoing or unpleasant rigging, then you can add some room treatments. you can go two ways about room treatment. 1st is that your room is a mess, you need to treat it, every square inch. Unless it's a an aquarium with wells that echo the echos, it's an ok room so assume the 2nd: fix "glaring" issues. Windows, big tv in the middle, surfaces that interfere with the bass, serious issues. The rest is diminishing returns e.g. your significant other holding up wet towels by the door. |
