To me it started as a discussion about who we are – are we music lovers or equipment lovers?
It’s fascinating to see the tone of the responses and it tells me a lot about the personality of the responders.
Most of you shared wonderful personal stories about how you see the difference between the equipment and never-ending quest for a “better sound”.
On purpose I placed a simple examination of the amount of money I spent on the recordings versus cost of equipment. Reading your responses I realized that many of you have spent much more on the music – kudos to you.
There were some responders that were unnecessarily aggressive and confrontational.
It seems that they were offended by the subject of the discussion.
And to add insult to injury – let them calculate a percentage spent on music (recordings) versus the amount spent on their system. I bet that the percentage will be laughably low.
To them I would suggest to take it easy and to read Carl Jung’s book “Man and His Symbols”.
The “trophies”, let it be audio equipment, cars, planes, boats, etc. are only the possessions directed in most cases towards impressing others. This “stuff” means nothing about the true passion for music, art, creativity …
Let’s see if this post will open a proverbial “hornet’s nest” lol.
Let’s have some fun guys.
Cheers
