Research for subwoofer

I have Bryston model T bookshelf speakers connected to a Luxman 509 that plays high res "Qbuz" music, jazz, pop, classical. ETC.   I am considering agreeing a sub but would like some opinions of what might work well with this set up.  The sub would have to go on the floor, could be powered or not.  Would like to build more of a stage with additional bass.

Thoughts?

Thanks Dave

@tcutter sorry for pestering but I am very passionate about analysing REW data correctly especially below Schroeder so I’m glad you heeded.

Hope you get that bass holes sorted and get something close to this in the bass - https://imgur.com/gallery/888-subs-room-HZZ4ksZ

+2 for Rhythmic.   I have two and they are a lovely addition to both my Totem Element V2 and my Xstatic.  They are easily tuned and adjusted to pair well with any speaker.

I recently got a pair of Elac Varro RS700. They are well engineered, fast and musical subs that go deep. I believe front firing sealed box subs are more accurate.

FWIW: Even though your Luxman has pre out, it is generally recommend to use high level outputs for better integration of subs with speakers. REL, Elac and others offer this option of piggybacking wires off speaker terminals to provide signal to the sub, which the sub then amplifies.

Whatever you choose you can look forward to a much more satisfying hifi experience!
