Sum Total Cost Of All Cables In Your Rig?

What is the total cost of all cables in your rig, as it stands today? (All interconnects, power cables, speaker cables, digital cables, etc)

Just a curious question....

I’ve built my own cables. 2 vhaudio flavor 2 for both of my genelec 8050b. Feeding from latest ipad with usb c >ifi iusb> musical fidelity DDC-> modded XDA2. All digital connects are Helix design (silver). Because both genelecs are powered, I was able to do AB test on all cables. All upgrade made audible changes, specially from. Power cable. Found NOS incomplete high end cable from 80s. Shame to say I’ve spent less than $300 for all.

I’ll approach this a little differently. My cabling is worth about 5% of my total investment

Me, just around £1,400. But I am a late starter. I have so many priorities. Just hope to live long enough to realise my ambitions.

"This is what I have in my system’s cable loom and you can price them out if you want to via the net but I’m not going to. I might add that the following will be with me for the duration.

2 Rega Couple 2

1 Rega Couple 3

2 McIntosh Power Control Cables between my transport and DAC

1 McIntosh proprietary Digital MCT Input cable supplied with my MCT80 Transport

3 Rega Reference Mains Power Leads

3 6’ VooDoo Mojo Digital Power Cords

1 Strait DIN phono cable supplied with my Luxman PD151 MKII turntable

1 1.5 M Standard power cord supplied my HIFI passive volume controller which is just the right length and fit for purpose in this system.

1 9 Meter pair Kimber Kable (KK) 12TC speaker cables with KK S-Ban connectors for which I received a $400 credit from KK for my 9 Meter pair of KK 8PR with the same terminations that I purchased in 2009 for $380."

Oops! I left one out, an audioquest Topaz IC I purchased in the 90s of which I have several sets and cost about $75 each which was a lot of money for me at the time. It was part of a loom that I put together for the systems I was playing with back then.

The Topaz currently sits between the HIFI passive volume controller and the AUX input on the Icon Audio Stereo 25 MKII I that has come home to my system. I also used this when I substituted my Naim Nait 5Si for the Icon to use with the Dali Oberon 5s I bought on sale in November.

Interestingly, audioquest was a much more down-to-earth company back then and much less into aggrandizing the egregiously overpriced snake oil they’re promoting now. If your interconnects, digital ICs, power cords or speaker cables etc., have enough resistance, inductance or capacitance that you can actually hear them in your system and the manufacturer hypes this affect, they are blowing smoke up your butt because ultimately the cable should be sonically invisible.

Personally, I look for sources that avoid such hype and strive for workmanship, electrical continuity, neutrality and reliability and yes, I do like the jewelry effect. Just sayin’.

My closest calculation arrives at a number very near the first year’s depreciation of a new luxury SUV.
