Equalizer in a Hi Fi system

Just curious to hear everyone’s opinions on using an equalizer in a high end hi fi system. Was at work tonight and killing time and came across a Schitt Loki max $1500 Equalizer with some very good reviews. What are some of the pros / Benefits and cons in using one. Just curious. BTW. I’m talking about a top of the line. Hi end equalizer. Mostly to calm some high frequencies and some bad recordings.

@mijostyn ,

can you give me a brief update on your progress with DEQX?  I am still very interested in hearing the final smoothed out product at its best. I would love to hop a flight/ plan a little trip around paying you a visit to meet you and hear a demo of exactly what state of the art DSP is capable of doing. 😊🎶

If it makes you happier and adds to your musical experience then of course!

Made a new audio friend locally. His DIY system is listed above. He came to my house and evaluated my system. He said it was very impressive and the PEQ-1 was way beyond what he imagined an equalizer could do. Basically, he said it was transformative for my system and sounded much like a speaker upgrade. He said he could not hear any audible degradation or hiss the way I am using it. FINALLY, another audiophile has HEARD what I’m doing and validated it!  I’m so happy!  I KNEW I had something special going on!

BTW, vinyl on his bi amped system is absolutely unbeatable. Never heard anything like it. So he knows what good sound is!
