Well, I bought one. The DS200 arrived about two weeks ago. I updated my virtual system to show it in place on my “Rack of Mac”.
To reiterate from my post above, I had purchased the Atoll MS120 several months ago It was great. Everything worked and sounded great. Especially for the price of $1,600. But it looked terrible sitting on my rack. I know. That is a silly reason to spend 2 1/2 times more for the McIntosh DS200. But this stage of my life, I want what I want and can afford to have it so I got it.
Does it sound better? I don’t know. My brain is telling me it does but I wonder if that’s just me telling myself that to feel better about the cost! For this post, let’s go with yes it does. But it sure looks great! Also, it is a dream to use. It connected right up to my network. And the overall features and functionality are just like my other McIntosh gear so for me at least it was a no brainer. Very logical and easy to move through and understand I had it set up and running in about 10 minutes.
So I am 100% thrilled with my purchase. I have bought McIntosh exclusively since the late 70’s so I just had to have it.
