Incredible Audio System for $1K

First this Solid State system sounds as good as having a midrange cost tube amp. Most important sre the Speakers. I bought used Monitor Audio Silver 3i. They sound about as good as my previous Revel M22 that is a serious performing speaker. Next is a Douk NS-13G class D amplifier. This amp is stunning. Sounds same as a midrange cost tube amp. Produces 60 Watts RMS per channel. Uses newer Texas Instruments TPA3255 power amp that many report here is a serious performer. The amp has phono and 1 volt Aux input. It also has treble and bass controls. Using NE5532P op amps, it can be replaced with Muses 02 amps for greater performance, The tunable is a Pioneer. PL-30-K that is also a good performer. I bought open box on eBay for $299. Box was sealed never opened. I replaced cheap cartridge with a AT VM95E. Not quite the VM540ML but is a good performer. Finally, I bought a Meridian 504 FM tuner. Of course there are better sounding systems, but this system is an excellent performer. Does one need more?

@jimbennet ”l should not have posted this”

There is no reason to be ashamed with your post. Even if you have been perceived by others as being an inexperienced newbie. Nobody’s perfect. Some people on here who think they are somebody’s are showing their real characters.

@yogiboy

When l noticed your last post “There are many of this type….” it made me look at your past contributions. I thought maybe this was typical of your output, but it is quite the opposite. You are a level headed contributor who obviously within this particular discussion felt the need to take a stand. The type of person depicted in the cartoon in real life should be treated like an awkward irritating child…….. to be seen (for what they are) and not heard.

Yeah, you may need more. You could have obtained more sonic satisfaction for the same price or lower, but, unfortunately, you got the wrong things.....

- Replace the Douk Doukie with this Fosi Audio ZA3. You’ll get lucky if it shipped with the GaN power supply.  $150

Get this subwoofer for $200 and place it correctly in your room.

The pioneer turntable’s fine. Use it’s built in phono stage. Pioneer knows how to build a phono stage better than the one inside Douk Doukie.

That should get you going...

I remember posting a really happy joyful post on a photography forum after I have gotten my Leica M10. I just got creamed. The seasoned posters, cynics, and non-believers came out of the wall and crucified me. My enthusiasm was just squashed.

After a solid year of experiences and posts about small observations, I was able to fully justify my enthusiasm and explain the nuances of what I was seeing and experiencing and got lots of praise for being able to articulate what I heard.

The forums should not be like this, but they are. Don't despair. Lurk a bit more... you'll probably find some stuff helpful. Then dip your toe in.
