Luxman da-07x dac…..has anyone here audition it? ?

I have the luxman m10x amp and c900u preamp and have been thinking of the da-07x dac. Has anyone here had an opportunity to audition this dac? If so can you share your impressions please ? There are no dealers anywhere near me.

Thx

donquichotte,

I am still using the da-07x dac and enjoy it very much. It needed a very long break in but now it’s excellent in every way.  I am using the luxman c900u pre and the luxman m10x amplifier and I believe the synergy with this gear works perfectly. I have no complaints. If you have more questions feel free to message me if you like.

Hello @starboard ! Thank you for your answer! It's funny because my question was actually directed at @imjerrys , who had in fact mentioned the upper range forwardness of the Luxman. I was not aware you had in the mean time bought this dac as well!

Unfortunately, Audiogon won't let me send PMs as in the good old times because I didn't go through their payment method verification process. Which is stupid, if you're asking me. But this is the DA-07X thread, so I think we can discuss here just as well. So, can you tell me please if you find its tonality forward or digital / synthetic / not natural in any way? Thanks!

I don’t hear any forwardness or any brightness after a long break in. I did notice some forwardness when it was new out of the box but definitely not any longer. Unless your amp, pre , or speakers, are bright you won’t have any problems with a well broke in luxman da-07x dac. The dac is just neutral with good bass and pristine highs. Midrange is excellent with my gear. I have had more dacs then I care to admit and this Luxman is the best I’ve owned and I have no desire to sell, at least at this time. It’s just fun to listen to. To my ears it is very natural sounding. It definitely is not digital sounding. I know what you mean by digital sounding and the luxman sound is the opposite of digital. If it was I would not have kept it in my system. Everything is system dependent but this is what my experience in my system is what I hear. I listen to all music that is music, no rap.
I believe imjerry has or had his listed on usam for a good price. I don’t know if it’s still there or not.

Another dac that I really enjoyed is the Merason Dac 1. Older dac but still very much worth used prices.

I type a lengthy response, but it got lost. In summary, the -07x doesn’t sound “forward”. That word was used for comparison ONLY.

Thank you both! I have decided to travel to another town, 250km away, to listen to a DA-07X on Saturday. I'll post my impressions here.
