Hello - My system is posted. My streamer outputs USB and I am primarily using the SU6 to allow me to hook up multiple DACs at the same time. Even though my current primary DAC (Aries Cerat Helene) is said to sound best through its USB input, when its internal superclock is engaged on the S/PDIF input, I do not notice any meaningful differences in sound between the USB and RCA inputs.
USB to AES converter / DDC
Hello,
I am getting back into music after a long time. I got a server/streamer, an Antipodes EX and I need a USB to AES converter to connect to my Trinnov ST2 hifi which in turn connects to the Weiss DAC202 (all with AES cables). The DAC202 feeds an Aavik I-280 that drives a pair of Vienna Acoustics Mahler speakers. I was thinking something like the Mutec MC3+USB /Mutec MC1.2+, Audio-dg DI25HE or similar. Any suggestions please? Thanks!

@mitch2 Thanks, that is exactly the response I was looking for. I am stuck with AES or SPDIF inputs even if I change my DAC because the Trinnov will not accept anything else. I was worried about the sound degradation (if any) from the converter/DDC. Now the choice is between the Singxer, the Mutec and the Audio gd. It is very difficult to find comparisons between the three, I can only go by the measurements of GoldenSound but as we know measurements are only part of the story. Btw I looked at your profile, very nice system, superb DAC (Aries Cerat Helene)! |
@greg_f I bought it to compare different inputs on my DAC. I have switched DAC’s and it is currently idle. |
I am using an Antipodes S20/S60 Reclocker and power supply for USB to BNC and have a Network Acoustics Muon 2 AES cable on order. The S/PDIF input on my DAC sounds much better than USB. The like all Antipodes gear the S20/ The S20 and S60 are no longer in production but can be found used and are a great value. |
@rikkipuu I would love to get an S20/S60 combination but they are almost impossible to find. |
