To your point @mahgister a young person can get upper tier mid fi to entry level hifi sound out of a simple Sonos Five. Own one. Best SQ out of a smaller one box solution that you’ll ever get for 500. I know. We have a couple around the house and they are quite listenable.
Anyone in this hobby lonely like me and wish they could “hang” with a fellow audiophile?
I had to ask this question. Because that’s where I’m at currently. I created a nice little smartly tuned system that I’d love to play for others. As well as a knowledge base that’s strong enough now to listen in educated fashion to others’ systems as well. I just wish I could invite someone to listen, or vise versa. But all my audiophile friends are states or continents away. I live in a small town in east coast Florida and just don’t know anyone in my region who’s an audiophile other than dealers.
Any thoughts?

Since 1992, one of the first things I've done whenever I've moved to a new area is to track down information about the local audio club so that I can join and get involved. Over the decades, the web has made such search easier, but, conversely, clubs in some areas have become harder to find. Not all of them have a web presence. Some "live" on apps like WhatsApp and Discord or private FB groups, etc. I asked my A.I. robot (Google Gemini Pro) to do some research on this topic for your area. It came up with the "Space Coast Audio Society", organized by Chris Vogel. Tracking them down will likely be worth the effort to establish some connections in your area.
