I remember Jesse Penna today

Jesse was a Navy Corpsman serving with the Marine Corps in Viet Nam. He lost his life serving his country and his fellow man. It was 1968 and Jesse and I would sit in the barracks and sing along with Janis Joplin "Piece Of My Heart" We were a mess. I remember him today and many other days. I thank God that I am home today free and healthy and with my family. I remember all who served and didn't make it home. God bless America.

I remember when I was a boy and the old timers would go to the cemetery and decorate the graves on "Decoration  Day". Now I am one of the old timers. I am thinking of you my brother, I'll never forget. Today I will play Janis for you and me, somehow the music always helps and makes me smile.

57 years my brother, I have not forgotten. Will put on Janis and remember all those years ago, It seems like yesterday and yet  sometimes if feels like someone else's life. I will never forget you Jesse .

Another year my brother, they seem to come more  quickly. I remember those times at Balboa Hospital in San Diego when we were in training and we would clean the barracks and sing Janis at the top of our lungs, well it was like singing. I will never forget you Jesse, especially on this day
