Denon AVR-5700 setup menu MIA

For some reason the receiver fails to output the onscreen setup menu to my monitor tv. The manual states that the signals are output to the "S-VIDEO MONITOR OUT 1" jack, and that is indeed where my cable is inserted, and it's the only video output connection. But I get no onscreen menu when pressing the "system setup" button. Resetting to factory settings had no effect. Has anyone some insight on this? Thanks very much.

A possibility:

Check the input button on your TV's remote or in the TV's setup menu to make sure the TV is set to display the S-Video input coming from your 5700 receiver.

Thanks for the help. My monitor receives the s-video signal fine from the receiver -- DVDs play correctly. The wierd thing is that other onscreen information *is* displayed, for example, cycling through the receiver's digital input modes, configuring test tones, produce onscreen visuals. It's only the main system setup menus that don't appear.

Rgairns:
Make sure you don't have headphones plugged into the reciever. If you do the set-up menu will not appear on the TV.
