@tomic601 ,

I get it bro. Mom had a hair-line fracture last weekend...I stayed with her all this week
"Get drunk or stoned"   Either way, is "highly" dependant on what part of the country one lives in.
Neil Young "White Line"
LInk Wray "Batman Theme"
REM "How the West Was Won and Where it Got Us"
Warren Zevon "Reconsider Me"
Joy Division "Shadowplay"
Little Feat "Cajun Girl"
Rhiannon Giddens "Tomorrow Is My Turn". What A GREAT VOICE! Although most of T Bone Burnett produced lps aren't the best SQ, try to overlook it here!!

Beginning to listen through my Flaming Lips "Heady Nuggs" (1994-1997) box set for the second time. Some good stuff!
That was interrupted by ...

Robert Plant "Principle of Moments"
Pinback "Autumn of the Seraphs"

..."until the needle hits the groove"...

David Lindley "Very Greasy"
Ray LaMontagne "Ouroboros"
Angus & Julia Stone "Down The Way"
Joan Armatrading "Show Some Emotion"
Vic Chesnutt "West of Rome"
@bob540,

Love your seemingly strong sense of buying vinyl. Don't feel bad for your current TT. It's very nice!

@reubent, I have "Cheap Thrills" you mentioned above. Have you heard the (Bear’s Sonic Journals Presents.. Big Brother & the HC / Live at the Carousel Ballroom" 1968)...remastered 2012/ Sony/Legacy.

I find it to be very good for what it is. The problem is/was the mic situation. The vocals and drums are in the left channel. Otherwise, pretty awesome document! It’s one of those records that upon your first listen, you wonder why you just bought it. Then as the lp moves on, you begin to be drawn in. I think one may have to be a big fan to appreciate it. It's mandatory to play this lp loud!!!

Who knew the Hell’s Angels were audiophiles?

Happy Listening!
@reubent, My mission was to inform myself and others. I ended up listening to the complete side one of my original "Cheap Thrills". Much better, no comparison, IMO.

Happy Listening!
I decided to put on my MFSL 45 rpm "Cheap Thrills" to compare to the above mention lp.

My memory was correct....this time. While the MFSL 45rpm (stereo)... why they did not do a mono????/I assume this lp came out as a mono?) has a more correct instrument placement, it isn’t presented as originally recorded. The soundstage is constricted... for a stereo lp. It doesn’t have the boogie factor of the above mentioned lp.

I will put on my original copy of Cheap Thrills (stereo) in a little while to again check. Knowing what I now know, I’d buy the Carousel Ballroom version and save the money. That’s just me.
Don't know if basements are allowed in Florida, seems it would be a perfect listening environment there?
Just listened to my original "CT", first track. Immediately,I could hear a more natural soundstage spread, especially for this time period. While the MFSL has more detail..more clean/clear...it lacks the originality of this record. Lost is the natural presentation for their stereo version. My original, again, has the boogie factor. Much more enjoyable, to me by a long shot.

I've a mint/clean MFSL 45rpm "Cheap Thrills" for sale. Any takers?
On now...

Sharon Jones (RIP) & the Dap-Kings  "I Learned the Hard Way"

(by the way, I'll take $35 + shipping/fees for the above mentioned lp)
Just US cleaned Yes "Fragile" MFSL UD1S/45rpm/dbl lp. I’ve had it for a few weeks and it kind of got lost in the shuffle. I guess this makes me a music snob.

I’m a big proponent of pre-steaming and have done so for years with audible positive results. Another upside for me is that I have intimate visual knowledge of just exactly what is on the record ( done under LED lighting). For the first time in years, I chose not to pre-steam this particular record as it looks SO clean.

I guess in addition to being a music snob I’m also a lp cleaning nerd.

@uberwaltz,

How do you like the Cadenza Black?

I own the Cadenza Mono, got about 150 hours on it. Want to mount it soon. I've been saying that for a long time though. After I bought the Sussurro MkII l haven't had the desire to change carts.
"gumption" Wow @boxer12, I never see that word used anymore....

love it! really!
Put on The Sadie's lp, from  last weekend again. The difference from going from a '70s analog recording to a current recording is striking!

This is what I'm trying to convey above....we all need a reality check every once in a while!
Mini-review of "Fragile" MFSL UD1S 45rpm

To start, my only good reference is my EU/Atlantic pressing with the normal orange/white strip/ green label. Not the more prized plum/orange label.

Upon first listen to side one, nothing really jumped out at me. Having said this, nothing was wrong at all. ( You know how expectations can interfere with reality?)

Going forward, the music seems to just draw me in. I think this lp just gets incrementally better from start to finish. I think this is what early analog was all about: it has so much soul and frankly, soothes the soul. The louder the better.

There's much more "meat on the bones" here. I've read some negative members' comments and my feeling is they are too closely referring to the current state of recording quality. I feel sad that they cannot tell a difference. I have found that after listening to current recordings, it's good to go back in time to real analog recordings to get and keep a sense of "rightness".

Glad I bought it, own it!

Oh, and BTW, it's pressed on center!
