Using a Studio EQ in an Audio System?

If I want to add an equalizer to my audio system, is there any reason to use one designed especially as an audio component as opposed to the kind they sell in musician's catalogs for studio and/or performance use (assuming the later has RCA jacks)?

Look to the DEQX - the best crossover/EQ/room correction piece available IMNSHO. www.deqx.com I should have one soon. Pricey but well worth it.

pro can be ok, too. Just make sure it's a parametric that can go down to 1/10 octave bandwidth (Q). The Rives PARC is nice, a bit pricey for what it does, but well built and all analog.
