upgrading mcintosh ma6500

I use the 6500 as a integrated, i have an off power but i want to improve dynamic and précision.

My question is if i keep my 6500 as a poweramp, its a good ideas to buy mc pramp?

Or maybe its a better ideas to use my ma6500 as a preamp and buy mc poweramp?

any sugestion or experience about that
