Yes, his voice is not miked in a flattering way. Overall a superb performance and not likely to be bettered anytime soon. I believe it ranks very highly - even among the old classic performances.
Tristan/EMI recording
Anyone else have the EMI Tristan recording with Domingo/Stemme, Pappano ? I was very much enjoying the way the femal vocals, orchestra , soundstage was recorded until Placido entered the recording- and the way they recorded his voice sounds too upfront and shrill- any other listeners care to comment?
