definitive
While I haven't heard the Ovation, I have heard the rest. I recommend the Casanova. The Proceed is too polite...lacks slam. The Meridian 561 is not their latest model and lacks the latest generation of d/a converters and DD surround decoder. The EAD is a nice piece but I think the Casanova will edge it out in sonics. Read Cory Greenberg's review in Audio magazine. He loved the Casanova....he said it was better than his Casablanca. Why not go with the new Krell Home Theater Standard (AKA the "Sub-Standard") since you already have the KAV250a's? I heard one in a half million dollar demonstation theater at Magnolia HiFi in Seattle last week...I've never heard better mid-bass and midrange. I have a Casablanca feeding a Krell KAV500/5 and a Jeff Rowland Model 1 with Apogee ribbons for speakers. The sub is B&W ASW2000. While I will replace the amps and the sub, I am keeping the Casablanca...I will send it in for an upgrade to Casablanca2 as soon as they announce the prices. Best Regards, audiopath
I KNOW THIS WASN'T IN YOUR CHOICE BUT LOOK AT THE SONY TA-E9000ES.....GOOD VALUE AND UPGRADABLE WITH 8 OUTPUTS,BUILT-IN EQ AND 4 EACH 32 BIT PROCESSORS.......
While it is almost impossible to get a music/video system I think the reason I chose the EAD Ovation is that while all of the outputs are single ended for hometheater you still have your balanced out in stereo to connect to what ever amp you please. At this time I'm using three B+k st-140's as my home theater. I have my eyes on a Sonic Frontiers tube amp to fire up my Spica TC-50's. The 20bit processors are as sweet as they come.I haven't had the need to re-eq any so called harsh sound tracks.I auditioned Krell,Meridian,But not the Theda.I stopped dead in my tracks.Good luck searching, D.V.
I definitely consider Lexicon MC1 or DC-2 which are well reviewed and are very easy to upgrade. It has DD5.1, dts surround EX and their Logic7 is just so incredible. For hometheater, it's one of the best, for music I'm completely satisfied. Give it a listen, I bet you'll want it. my 2 cents
