OK to have power amps powered w/o spkrs.?

Hi quick question. I just bought a stereo amp, and have a pair of mono-blocks as well. I would like to have them powered and warmed up before I do a comparison (a day or so).

Is it safe to have the power amps plugged in without being connected to speakers? Amps are solid state.

I plan to leave them plugged in 24/7 thereafter.

Maybe I'm being overly paranoid, but I recall reading something about amps and not using them without being connected to speakers....

Much appreciated. Thanks.

I would not think it would bother any modern amp to run without a load. If you are worried why not get a couple of resistors and connect them to the outputs? You are not feeding any signal to them so I don't see what good they will do outside of relieving worry. But that is a legitimate purpose. You should have been around in the old days when you could blow the output stage when the amp was unplugged. I have a feeling that that advice may have been directed at some of the more exotic circuit designs. Amps that run well into class A are a law unto themselves.
