Need advice about dysfunctional AMC CD6b

My AMC CD6b has stopped recognizing the CD. I've spun the CD, and cleaned the laser head, but without fixing the problem.

I'm guessing it is a faulty laser. Is that a reasonable assumption?

Should I dump it, sell it broken, or get it repaired? If repaired, any idea what that would cost?
