MM phono stage

I need you advise for the best MM phono stage for max:
- $500 used, or
- $1000 new
- $500 DYI kit (I was considering here the EB-804/419 from www.borbelyaudio.com or Linsey Hood RIAA Phono Stage from http://www.williamshart.com/phono.htm)

Look at the Camelot, superb for it's price.

Look for a used Lehmann Audio Black Cube SE (the version with the larger power supply). It can often be found selling in the $400-450 range. It's an excellent MM preamp in absolute terms, and at the used price it's also an excellent value.
