Member Almarg passed away last night

Al ( @almarg ) passed away peacefully yesterday evening, September 14th, 2020.

Margaret, Al's wife, was by his side most of the afternoon.

Both she and Al, as well as Al's family, were deeply touched by the outpouring of respect and appreciation for Al from members who, via written word, shared so very much in the 'Update on Audiogon Member Almarg' thread.

Margaret extends her thanks, gratitude and appreciation to all members. She treasures each and every post.

A recent anecdote... that's quintessentially Al, in so many ways. And an audiophile through and through to the very end...

From Margaret:

"Among all the other ways Al had positive contributions to make, perhaps, is that he was the first hospice patient at Yale to figure out how to pipe in music audio into the 4 Supportive Care Unit rooms."

Margaret asked me to share the link below, should Audiogon Members want to sign the guestbook, send an online sympathy card, upload a photo, etc.

As we extend our condolences... perhaps we can also commemorate, salute, and celebrate the man Al was...

If you have stories, memories, anecdotes, etc. to share...I’m sure the Audiogon community will enjoy reading and be touched by the connections to... and remembrances of Al.

Margaret has compiled the responses from the other thread and shared those with Al’s family members. I know she would love to hear more!

"Your messages throughout this process have truly kept me on a clear path to knowing Al even better than I had. I can’t thank you enough..." - Margaret.
@falconquest  (from above)...

we must also remember to celebrate a life well lived, which it sure sounds to me that Al led.

In addition to Al's audio related posts, I always enjoyed reading his posts that pointed to his love of Porsche.

Lest Porsche be given a bad name, hifiman5, I regret to say that the Porsche of recent years seems to have no resemblance to the company as it appears to have existed in 2000, based on Bruce's description of it as "bad" at that time.

My experience purchasing two such vehicles in the past four years (a 2014 Cayman S and a 2017 Macan S) has been nothing short of amazingly good in every conceivable respect. And in recent years Porsche has ranked at or very near the top among all manufacturers in J. D. Power surveys of initial quality and longer term customer satisfaction.

Sorry! Regards,

-- Al

@stimpy1226   Neil, I forwarded your post to Margaret. Here is her response:

"Please let him know, if you can reach him, that I agree with him that we had a wonderful life together and I remember so many lovely family events we shared with his two great boys – only wonderful memories of his system!!!"

If you would like to connect with Margaret directly, please PM me and I'll pass on her contact info.
In remembrance of Al.   A year has passed and I miss Al and Al's presence in our forum (so much).
