Decording mode for TV

Hello,
As a newbie I'm a little overwhelemed by some of this but am enjoying learning. I'm trying to get a handle on dolby digital decording modes and the differences. I have a Denon Avr-1082, can anyone advise what the right mode for watching tv is?
I've already discovered I like the "widescreen" format for movie viewing, gives lively sound.

With your Denon , your receiver should be set to pro logic, then pop in a DVD, select Dolby Digital from the menu, press enter, then play, and Dolby Digital should light up on the Denon.
Then your wife will yell at you.
