Comparing Revel Studios with VonSchweikert 4SRII

I have a medium sized listening room 12 X 21 with 9 ft celings in NYC. I had Watt Puppys 5.1, but they were much to lively with my tube gear (220 Vacs) in such a small room. Now have Revel Studios, which dial in much easier but imaging seems very soft after the Watts. Also there is occasional irritating glare. Could be the tube and metal midrange combination. Considering the newer version of VS 4SR11. Very difficult to trust any dealership in Manhattan. Acutally most of the salespeople nowadays only know video and some digital audio. Any advice or opinion would be welcome. Thanks < Harold

I think the VS 4SR11 uses composite pulp mid range, this will be better damped and will be less likely to give you "glare" like a metal mid range. (rigid cones generally suffer from ringing more than damped pulp/paper/woven designs)

The problem with the Watt Puppies may have been their strength in the 80 to 100 Hz range in your room (overly bass heavy or punchy).

Have you considered Wilson Sophia or Sophia 2? (They are much less bass heavy than the Watt Puppy line)
