I use the CL-38uSE which from what I can tell is almost identical minus the set of balanced XLR inputs. I absolutely love it. Have owned CJ gear in the past, it is great, but this Luxman is probably the best I've heard without spending massive amounts of cash. Lovely tone to it.
CJ - PV series vs. Luxman C38uc?

Sorry for the broad ask. I'm thinking of trading my Luxman integrated towards a tube preamp. The integrated is great but I went fully active and now need a 2-channel preamp to warm things up vs. my Anthem HT receiver.
I'm considering a Luxman C38uc in large part because it uses similar tubes to one of my favorite series from the past, the Conrad Johnson PV series, from the 10 to the 14 I really liked them. I'm wondering if anyone has had the chance to do a CJ PV and Luxman tube preamp for comparison?

@erik_squires Sorry I haven't heard any CAT products since maybe 2010, back when they seemed to be really growing in popularity. I remember the SL1 with the outboard power supply, it was excellent in the dealer demo room. Didn't quite work out in my own room at the time. That was many years and system changes ago, so not really valuable for comparison. |
