Can foam insulation jackets wrapped on cables harm

I immediately wrapped my Stealth speaker cables and interconnects with pipe isulated foam jackets from Lowes to ward off static. Can this diminish the audible characteristics. I can't percieve where the engineering for the skins of cables has gone!

you should keep an eye on your cables for discolorations as you could have a chemical reaction between the materials. some foams tend to release gases long after they have been manufactured. other wise more insulation won't hurt
May I mention that HMS cables is taking great care in engineering the skins of their cables. No static energy from the "outside" will ever penetrate their interconnects or speaker cables and thus degrade the sound.
