benchmark dac1 hdr; nas storage

couple of questions. First, like to hear pros and cons comments as to benchmarks dac1 hdr. I know the dac1 hdr has the capability to directly drive a power amp but I want to use it to drive a Mcintosh c45 preamp - anyone actually use the dac1 hdr to drive a preamp? Also - good idea or not? Second, like to hear good/bad experiences with NAS storage. Primarily interested in failure / reliability findings - i.e. what NAS you have found to be bulletproof and what NAS have been found to fail, not just performance wise but actually die on you.
