Any 300B Has A Bit Warmer Presentation?

Would appreciate any thoughts on currently available 300B's that tend to be a bit warmer than average 300B in sound signature. I have a system put together that is nearly perfect but just a touch more warmth would put it over the top and the two 300B's are the only remaining avenue to find that. The rest of the system is optimized, otherwise. Budget is up to $1000.00 a pair, absolute max. A lower price would be preferred. Thanks for any assistance with this.

I prefer a warmer detailed tone and have settled in on Psvane Acme.  I have used Valve Art (Shuguang), Shuguang Black Treasure Z and LinLai.  The Psvane Acme were hands down superior in all ways.  I have heard a lot of good comments about Psvane’s new top of their line Summit Series 300b.  Probably my next replacement when the Acme are done playing….The Acme were recommended by my Aric Amp builder Aric Kimball.

thaluza,

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I can certainly your perspective on the 300B tubes possibly not being the way to go to gain the warmth. And the Elrogs that I have are the second generation, problem free ones, and they are very good.

My DAC and playback system are really dialed in. That essentially leaves cables as perhaps the best option to get a bit more warmth. Any cable suggestions in that regard?

@tksteingraber Thanks for reminding me of Summit Series, completely forgot, this could be real contender for my next 300B. And I agree the Acme hands down superior to Shuguang Black Treasure. BT and all lower tier 300B simply not up to resolving/transparency capabilities of higher tier 300B.

So, it comes down to Takatsuki vs Summit for my next 300B, already have offer in for some lightly used Taks.

Skunkie Audio over on youtube is in process of building custom 300B amps right at the moment. In the process of building these amps she is measuring various 300B, very enlightening as to power output vs distortion and second vs third harmonic distortion levels. The standard EML probably has best second to third harmonic distortion level measurements in that the preferred second order predominates more in this tube than the others, she also preferred this tube subjectively in her amp. WE didn't measure all that well and subjectively she didn't like sound quality at all. In recalling this, EML standard tube should also be on my to buy list.

She's also experimenting with various power and output transformers, Hashimotos and Tangos amongst some others.

If you want to add a touch of warmth through cables then consider Cardas... Clear Reflection (warmer) through Clear Beyond (less warm).
