Best Quality AVR (DAC/AMPS) for 7.1 (or 7.2) from the past 6 years?
An integrated solution is preferred
Amp Recommendations: 2 Ohm Stable, ~300+ watts, and small...
The amp I need would be 2-300 watts at 6-4Ohm.  I would not need to double at 2 Ohm.Thr QSC amps are too large. The Cherry amps are pricey, but the right idea.  Likely more than I need.

Thanks to everyone for all the info... far more than I expected!

The amp is an Odyssey Audio Stratos Extreme. The DAC/Preamp combos I am considering...Pro-Ject Audio Pre Box S2 Digital Pro-Ject Audio Pre Box DS2 DigitalTopping D70RME ADI-2MiniDSP SHDNAD C658... obviously quite a range. I’d like to spend the leas...

So where does an amplifier input impedance of 22K ohms land on the scale?

My plan is to go Mac Mini to a DAC/Preamp to a beefy amplifier to speakers with a sensitivity of 86 db at 2.8 Volts. If I had an all digital DAC/Preamp combo that maxed out at "line level", is that enough to reach reasonably loud levels? Thanks.
Need Receiver Help: High Quality Ampification & DAC, Digital input to Zone 2, Older is OK
I think I found the cheapest solution.  I will get a splitter for the toslink output of the Mac Mini, and then get a good, but inexpensive DAC.  That DAC's analog out will be an input for Zone 2 on my receiver.  Not the cleanest/simplest of soluti...

I thought of that, but there is no way to turn off the home theater speakers in that scenario, so everything would be on at the same time.  Only zones allow you to control output like that.
A thin and elegant system?
The weight isn't an issue - just a way of summing up the mass of it all.I appreciate the answers, but most of these are simply boxes with drivers on the front face - and yes I know the reasons for that - but I think I am after alternative designs....

Some interesting ideas... thanks for humoring me.
A thin and elegant system?
This is more of an exercise in possibility rather than an actual purchase.  I was just curious what was out there in that design.I haven't really seen anything like what I am thinking, as most towers use 6-8" wide drivers on the front.  Perhaps it...
