Your ONE all time favorite love song?
"Happy Together"
Two R&B finds.....
Agree. I got that Les Nubians album in 1998. Similar recent albums I also recommend are India Arie's Acoustic Soul and Lizz Wright's Salt. I've been listening to another cool French artist lately, Samiah Farah (Samia Farah).
Are Sub-woofers really for music?
I used to own Triangle Titus' which, like your speakers, don't go below 60hz. I got a REL Strata III subwoofer for bass augmentation. I dialed the cutoff to around 50hz and I got very good results (you have to play a lot with placement though).The...
Speaker Upgrade?
The Von Scweikert VR-1's in African Hazelwood finish look stunning. Check out the system of Megasam here in Audiogon. High-mass stands are must for the VR-1's (e.g. Target HR60 or Osiris), therefore, factor the cost of stands in your budget. Perfo...
Von Schweikert VR-1 & VRS-1 or VR-2?
Tvad is right. The VR-2's require a lot of breathing room for optimum performance. Therefore, it will surely depend on the size of your room. If you have a small room or a lot of space restrictions, VR-1's + sub will be your best bet. Instead of m...
Smoother integrated for JMLabs Chorus 706?
The Puccini should be a very good match with your Chorus. I own another French speaker, Triangle Titus, which have the same characteristics with your 706 (detail and speed). The combo is awesome. They both balance out each other.
I need a musical sub under 500,,,,new or used.
Paradigm PDR-10 ($350) or HSU VTF-2 ($500)
Best used sub for $300 and $600?
IMHO, Under $300 - Paradigm PDR-10Under $600 - REL Q's or HSU VTF-2 ($500 new)Under $600 REL's (lower end Q series or older strata's) are very rare. But if you can find one, definitely get it.
Wharfedale subs--anyone know of these?
It might be a part of their new Pacific EVO line.
Best Electronic Albums of the 90s....
You've Come A Long Way, Baby (1998) - Fatboy Slim; Protection (1995) - Massive Attack. Both are not underground (or considered hard-core techno) but I consider them a part of the best.
