DAC>Streamer>MQA>Wireless besides Bluesound
paul8060, I purchased the BlueSound Vault because I could run Tidal through it and have access to MQA. I also ripped 500 plus CD's. My system is primarily for Vinyl, but when working I love to be able to just listen to Tidal or BBC6 Music. I also ...
Bluesound Vault 2 VS Mac or PC audio
I echo the previous statements, I have a vinyl based setup, but I also had over 400 CD's, I looked around at various options. In the end based upon user feedback I purchased an older Vault 1 with 2TB h/d. I had to run a 100ft ethernet cable from t...
Class D = Trash?
I have had a number of Amps; SS, Tube, Class D. 3 years ago I replaced my Cary V12R (Tube), with a Bel Canto, then I (in my opinion) upgraded to a Spectron Musician III with the remote sense cables (I will be listing this next week), I recently up...
How good is the Technics 1200 Mk2 with all the KAb upgrades?
fluffers.. I find it difficult to type that !!!LOLSee my previous post, there is a lot of money in those upgrades, it's good to go, believe me. There becomes a point of diminishing returns, you could change the tonearm etc, but to be honest, I wou...
Best standalone music server?
I looked for an all in one solution that i could rip my 500 plus CD's into, had the ability to stream MQA from Tidal etc and that could be combined with 'Roon' software...I went for the Bluesound Vault and could not be happier, it also streams to ...
Best Record You Have Ever heard
so many to choose from, however, one that I would recommend that I do not believe has been mentioned is :Rob Wasserman ‎– DuetsLabel: MCA Records ‎– MCA-42131Year - 1988 Style : Jazz (free, smooth, contemporary)
How good is the Technics 1200 Mk2 with all the KAb upgrades?
I have an MkII with the Kabusa upgrades described above, I use it with a Paradox Pulse 103R (requires additional extended weight for tonearm). For my 2 c, for the money it's an excellent TT. I use it primarily for playing 45 rpm vinyl and any viny...
The value of of the sealed record.
I have bought quite a few sealed records, and opened most of them to play, I have few rarer Lp's still sealed, The Small Faces &  Space Ritual - by Hawkweed spring to mind. I agree with 'Testpilot', i wouldn't be surprised if somebody , somewh...
Best standalone music server?
Correct, I have 500 cds ripped into the vault, plus a hifi tidal subscription, in addition I use 'Roon' as the engine. I much prefer vinyl (5000 plus) , but the convenience of being able to stream to various areas of the house is a great benefit. ...
Suggestion of Amplifier for Dynaudio Confidence C4
I have a pair of C1's, for the last 18 months they have been driven by a Cary 280 V12 R, great tube amp, runs hot as hell though (and I live in Texas). Sounded great, but I always thought the speakers wanted more power. On a whim i purchased a Bel...
Looking for NEW amp...would a Bryston 3Bsst output more power than a Krell 400xi amp?
May I suggest the Spectron musician III mk 2.... Top of the line class D... Oodles of power...I replaced my Cary v12 R with one...couldn't be happier.
Best Drum Solos
Just my 2c, the best 'drum' vinyl is Ed Graham 'hot stix' direct master to disc -45rpm. It can be tricky to track down a copy, on the 'bay' it can go over $100, it's a great disc to push your system and a/b all components.
If you could only own 7 Jazz/blues albums. What would they be?
apologies, I was the one who got confused with Rollins and Coltrane...I was struggling between Colossus and Giant Steps. Another suggestion for the blues category would be Mick Abrahams (founding member of Jethro Tull). I listened to his solo albu...
How are 'Best Of' compilation albums mastered?
From my experience the bulk of "best of' compilations go for quantity over quality. Too many tracks per side, thus compressed. My general rule of thumb is - at least on vinyl - stay away from artist comps.Paul
