Favorite one box C.D.??
The Levinson 390S is the best player I've heard and I've listened to many one-box players and transport & DAC combinations. Detailed but very analog sounding with a wide and deep soundstage. The only problem is price, it's expensive (too rich ...
mark levinson service
I had a 334 amplifier that needed service last year. Their service department was first class - repaired it quickly and even paid for shipping back to me. I was not even the original owner! I think they are just as good as Bryston in this respect.
Any new Opus 21 onwers?
I second Acuujim's recommendation. It is superior to the CD55 and CD50 (both good players). It is best if run direct in via balanced, it has a very good sounding analog voulme control. The Opus 21 is strictly a no frills player (no programming opt...

Best used preamp for around $1000. . .
For the money, a Threshold T3 is a great value.
Best CD Player, new or used between $1-2K
The Resolution Audio CD50 is the best anywhere near the specified price range, the CD55 is even better but is over $2000.
Best Cd Player for $2000 used
The Resolution Audio CD50 is the best in this price range.
Best CD player now made.
Resolution Audio CD50 and CD55 - as good as the very best currently available!
Levinson vs Threshold vs Plinius vs Bry
I owned the Bryston 4B ST and replaced it with a Mark Levinson 334. The Levinson surpasses the Bryston in every aspect, including having far greater current capacity even though it is 125 watts vs 250 watts for the Bryston. I compared the Levinson...
