Best CHEAP floorstanders?
Try the Paradigm Monitor 7's. They're even under the budget.
Which small but great monitors?
Also try Vienna Acoustics Hadyn's and the Sonus Faber Concertino's.
Should Speakers come first in a gradual upgrade?
Another source first guy. If you're considering the Arcam 92 you might also want to try out the Linn Genki. Make the REL your very next step though! I don't care what anybody says, every pair of speakers needs a REL.
Cartridge Help with LP-12/Ekos
Rega cartridges also work very well with the LP-12. Try either the Elys, Super Elys, or Exact.
PARADIGM REFERENCE SPEAKERS
Listen to longplate. The Audible/MCcormack combo rocks. The Quicksilver preamp for even less cash is also incredibly musical. The DNA 225 from MCcormack is great also with the 100's. The 100's also seem to like higher end Audioquest speaker cables.
Looking for alternative to Sonus Fabers
The vienna's are definitely a warmer sound than the Conertino's, and they have fuller base. They aren't quite as open on the high's though. Be sure to listen to the new Concertino's with their new tweeters & higher efficiency. They're a differ...
tubes or ss for amati homage
Linn Klimax's work quite well.
cartridge for rega planar 3 - 800 range
Hello? Try the Rega Exact. Its really good.
2000 Rega Planar2
The new P2 has a new motor, now firmly attached to the plinth, and a new platter. Instead of glass, it uses a sort of fiberboard with injected metal particles. The platter doesn't feel as substantial, but its quite nonresonant.
How Much Bearing Oil In LP12
Usually about 30-34 drops. Just enough to where it doesn't quite spill out the top
GRADO SONATA 1.5V (THOUGHTS/SUGESTIONS)
The Rega Exact is a great match with the 25, although definitely not as "cool" as the Grado's as far as hifi geeks are concerned. I think it is more tonally accurate than the Grado and the setup is a snap. A very fun combo.
Start Up Rattle on Rega P3
If you have an older Planar 3, the start up rattle is normal, but not the continued rattling. The new P3 motor has a different mounting scheme which shouldn't rattle at all. This motor is offered as an upgrade to older tables for 155.00. I would r...
Linnn Linto
Don't believe everything tubies tell you. From personel experience I can tell you that the Linto is amazing. It DOES NOT make your records sound like CDs. It DOES give you an incredible amount of detail and is very quiet. When used in conjunction ...
Cheap Canadians
Where are you finding such good deals on Paradigms? Are these current products? Paradigms are good deals even at retail, so if you can get them at half off it's definitely a great deal. Paradigm has recently upgraded their Monitor series line. May...
