Best 300b single-ended Tube amp. for the $
I think you are making very good choises, I heard the Zu sounding very good, maybe at it's best, and thought it a great speaker at any price. I also agree that cable distinctions become much more pronounced as eff increases.
Favorite H H Scott Tube Integrated Amplifier
Just picked up a 222c, needs filter caps, I'll boost them by at least 100% tightens up the bass, keeps the mids clear as the volume goes up. I'll probably go with auracaps for coupling caps- this has worked wonders on other Scotts I've moded. May ...
300b, x45, 211, etc.
Very interesting Biomimetic, the Rocket uses some dc bias in the out put transformers, just as in single ended-the ONLY push-pull design to my knowledge that does so . BTW I've heard the paradigms and couln'd agree more, just on low powered SETs I...
300b, x45, 211, etc.
The Cary is one of my favourite amps for it's sweet, forgiving sound, my AES version is similar. That said both amps in stock version suffer from a design error that causes slew limiting, an inability of the driver circuit to provide enough curren...

EL34 Integrated
One other possibility: Harmon -Kardon MKV , uses 5881 , or EL34's with Huge output transformers, sound similar ( if not indentical) to the famous Citation II's . I found a working amp in Ann Arbor , MI for $175. For my money by far the best buy, b...
I need HELP with my LP12 based system
I can tell you about 5 years ago I went FINAL turntable shopping. Listened to SOTA, VPI, and last, becuase I never thought I would buy it , Linn. The LP 12 didn't do anything for me , but when I put my test LP ( Miles and Monk at Newport) on an LP...
EL84M tube rolling?
You might try NOS 7189's as they were meant to handle more power than 6BG5's (EL84). I've never had a problem with them in any amp. Good listening, and best of luckRichard
