| New Preamp or go Integrated Just a thought ..$2500.00 should get you a Hovland HP 100 with a MM or MC phono stage. Beautiful preamp, good sound, great for tube rolling. | |
| which speaker is better suited for Rock and Roll For about 5 to 6 K I recommend Verity Audio Parsifal Encore. They are great sounding, well built, come in flight cases, can be set up with front or rear firing woofers, and work great in rooms your size. Deep base, sweet midrange, detailed enough ... | |
| Finding a Great Sounding FM Tuner Thanks for this thread. I love FM tuners but I live in a large city and there aren't many good quality stations left. I own two oddball tuners, an HH Scott 4312 nuvistor that my dad bought in 1963, and a Pioneer Series 20 F26 that I got directly f... | |
| Battle of the affordables Sorry to suggest something not on your list but you have asked about some quite different speakers. I would look at and listen to Verity Audio Parsifal Encore. They are in the higher end the price points on your list but I think you can get a mid ... | |

All bought used... | |
| How loud are you typically listening? Typically I listen at an average SPL (Radio shack meter) 76-78dB. When my system was at it's best a good example of the range it produced is: Dewy Redmond Choices = quiet passages @ 65db full and detailed, open and satisfying Loud passages @ 86 db... | |
| Dedicated power Thanks builder3, I am likely in NEC violation! I do wonder the potential hazard of my set up...and wondering if there will be a sonic advantage/disadvantage to correcting my set up by linking the outlets' ground to the incoming service ground rod.... | |
| Dedicated power You may add additional ground rods to the original circuit however. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this is what I have done, the two isolated ground outlets have a shared ground rod which is an additional ground point in the system. | |
| Dedicated power People may balk at this, but it is my experience. I ran two 20amp dedicated lines from the first breakers in the panel, everything else on a different leg, 10 ga. Solid core, in conduit, straight run, to the outlet box. Also placed a separate gro... |
