@reubent I’ve streamed McMurtry’s music, including his latest, and have it on my want list. I think he’s great. Don’t think I’ve heard that live album. If I remember correctly there are a couple big fans of his around here. @slaw @waltersalas maybe.

A rose by any other name…

But yes! Whatever they use in stadiums and battlefields.

I never saw Joe Perry play the solo on their version of “Train Kept a Rollin’” but I’ve heard from several others that he does it well. On the record the “dueling” lead guitar solos are Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter. The same fellas who played dual lead for Alice Cooper during his best years. Interesting couple of guys. Hunter plays that iconic 5/4 acoustic guitar lead-in on Salsbury Hill. Wagner put out a few albums including with his band Ursa Major but neither ever played anything as memorable to me as those solos on Train Kept A Rollin; which, I feel are, musically, some of the best guitar solos ever recorded. Notwithstanding the often low esteem held for that band and that record and what Aerosmith may have eventually become.

@dayglow + 1 on Get Your Wings. An all time favorite. Do you know the story about the guitar solos?

@slaw

Was able to find what I was interested in from RSD, this morning.

Good on ya Steve.  Enjoy ‘em in good health.

@bslon Thanks. Re: RSD today. Happy to report I got everything on my list and then some. I was 75th in line. When I got in line at 5 am, with my earphones and a beach chair, it was 39*. Probably didn’t need to be quite so macho about it - there were plenty of records. All that frenzy turned out to be rather anticlimactic. I only saw a couple of people with stacks big enough to suspect scalping was afoot. A pretty good & friendly crowd really.

Caravan - Blind Dog at St. Dunstan’s • 1976 • Arista (US) OP

I love my stereo

@ricmci Dude!  I love that record.  Might be my favorite Caravan album.  Don’t recall you posting here before. If not - big welcome. Keep ‘em coming.

@bkeske +1 on Mr. Gone.  I like that album now a lot more than I used to.  Maybe I’m getting more open minded…

Art Pepper - Art Pepper Meets The Rhythm Section • 2022 RSD • Craft/Contemporary

very Nice Sounding Record.  Like reference.  highly recommend this issue.  I know the ingroove in phoenix will have plenty left after RSD today.

@bkeske   Congratulations to you too Brian.

C Minor KV 406.
Dänisches Streichquartett.

Dave Douglas and Elan Mehler - If There Are Mountains

Good sounding record.

@j_husker That’s funny. Hey, I don’t think you need to apologize for having that record - what a treasure. You’re lucky to have it. Thanks for the report too. I have that Mofi. It’s reserved for when I’ve been exceptionally good, which honestly doesn’t happen very often since I have every one of the vices you listed….

@whitefishpoint1175 +1 on Portrait In Jazz. A favorite.

Grenadier
Medeski

@dtstevens 👍. My box finally arrived yesterday.  Welcome to the thread.  Keep’em coming.

Hey @gardners501 great to see you back here again.

Bill Evans - At The Montreux Jazz Festival

@bkeske I bought it awhile ago after you gave me the idea.   I think there was some discussion about the composer together with @tomic601.   I got NM records in a beat up box.  I really like it.

Franck is one of my favorite composers although there isn’t that much of his work available so I usually buy anything I see of his if it’s decent grade.  Really like that album too.

@slaw Cool.  I hope you enjoy it.  It’s not exactly easy listening.   Kind of bridges the gap between angular and challenging on the one hand and soft and beautiful on the other.  YMMV of course.

@bslon +1 on Charlie.  Underappreciated group.  Not flashy but at times just the thing.  My theory is they don’t get respect they deserve because it generally hard to believe such great album covers could contain equally great music…..
