Jay McShann ‎– Confessin' The Blues (Classic Jazz 1978)
Magic. Everyone's taking bad shots at the pool table cos the rhythm's shaking them up.

Richard "Groove" Holmes - Living Soul (Prestige 1966 mono)
Not a big fan of organ in jazz but this guy just oozes "Harlem."
King Curtis ‎- Soul Serenade (Capitol 1964)

FDS recording is upfront with the sax in your face and added echo. But they forgot to bring the low end up in the mix. Great stuff.

Lionel Hampton And His Orchestra ‎– Hamp's Big Band (Audio Fidelity ‎1959 mono)

Brilliant. Superb recording. Soaring dynamics. These last 4 or 5 records were in my Meh section. I played a few tracks years ago and they weren't great. However, after a few years of upgrades - mostly the 401 bearing, idler and platter, the better Jelco AND the concrete platform - the rig is ridiculous. Rock solid and so in tune. This stuff sounds fantastic.

Buy this album.

@uberwaltz I fell in love with a girl just because she loved this album. (It's okay. You're safe!)
The Final Cut ..... Pink Floyd

Nice to see you back, Brian & Mom K.

Ralph Sutton, Ruby Braff – R&R: Quartet (Chaz Jazz 1980)

Bert Jansch ‎- Heartbreak (Logo 1982)

Can’t beat English folk music. Cobblestones, Morris dancers and sour ale.
Except, side 2 opens with Heartbreak Hotel. Daft.

Randy Newman - Good Old Boys (Warner 1974)

"Papa was a midget, Mama was a whore"
It’s A Beautiful Day ‎- Marrying Maiden (CBS 1970)

I bought this in the 80s and never played it because I suspected it would be crap. Or it was crap. I can’t remember. So this was the reckoning. And I don’t recognize any of it. Not bad at all. Worth the effort.
Richie Havens ‎- Richie Havens' Record (Douglas 1969)

Weird recording with vocals down in the mix as if he's sitting on the floor. Music like they're having a great time at the other campsite.
Junior Wells Chicago Blues Band With Buddy Guy ‎- Hoodoo Man Blues (Delmark ('65) 1974 r/e mono)
Todd Duncan - Sings Spirituals (Hudson 1960 mono)

Turns out this is pretty rare. Perfect gospel music for these times. Not religious but this sh1t is downright apocalyptic.
Junior Wells ‎- It's My Life Baby (Vangard 1966 mono)

Never gets old. Excellent (live) recordings. Buy this.
Played the Wells' It's My Life, Baby a second time. First time with the Garrott Bros Decca Gold/Decapod, then with the Super Gold /Paratrace/Decapod.
Always an interesting difference.
Billy Joel ‎- The Nylon Curtain (Columbia ‎1982)

Bought it when it came out. Mint original until I opened the seal tonight.

Thanks @spiritofradio Good stuff. By the way, I watched the documentary, Miles Davis: The birth of Cool last night. Check it out on Netflix.
Onzy Matthews ‎- Blues With A Touch Of Elegance (Capitol 1964)

Louis Armstrong And The All Stars ‎- Louis And The Good Book (Decca 1958)
Gilbert & Sullivan, D'Oyly Carte Opera Company ‎- H.M.S. Pinafore (London 1971)

More fun than it sounds.
Mary Martin, Cyril Ritchard ‎- Peter Pan, Original Cast Recording (RCA Victor 1964)

Stanley Turrentine / Gloria Lynne ‎– Love's Finally Found Me (Versatile 1977)

I've landed on the set of Starsky & Hutch.

This Mortal Coil – Filigree & Shadow (4AD 1986)

Bought when released. Spent many nights with this on headphones. Still an old favorite.

The Roches - S/T (Warner 1979)

Fun album. I like this. Odd recording, somewhat flat.

From earlier.

Gisela May – Brecht + Weill (Eterna 1966)

Various – Lost In The Stars - The Music Of Kurt Weill (A&M 1985)

Fairground Attraction ‎– The First Of A Million Kisses (RCA 1988)

I have 2 versions. A US and UK pressing. Interestingly, the US pressing sounds better. Not the best SQ but musically top notch.
A great album. Buy it.
Alison Kinnaird ‎– The Harper's Gallery (Temple 1980)

Robin Williamson ‎– Legacy Of The Scottish Harpers Volume Two (Claddagh 1986)

Peter, Paul, & Mary - Album (Warner 1966)

Peter, Paul, & Mary - (Moving) (Warner 1963 mono)

Good clear in-the-room recordings with musical vocals.
Roger Waters - The Final Cut (Harvest 1983)
There's a kid who had a big hallucination
Making love to girls in magazines
He wonders if you're sleeping with your new found faith
Could anybody love him
Or is it just a crazy dream?
And if I show you my dark side
Will you still hold me tonight?
And if I open my heart to you
And show you my weak side
What would you do?

Michelle Shocked - The Texas Campfire Tapes (CookingVinyl 1986)

Bought this when it came out to much acclaim. All the more interesting now that she’s apparently turned into a far right religious homophobe. Although she said she didn't mean it. Still, leaves a bad taste.
String Driven Thing ‎- The Machine That Cried (Charisma 1973)

You know it! A masterpiece.
Wooden Wand ‎- Death Seat (Young God Records ‎2010)

Love it. Buy this record.
