What are the best small not bookshelf speakers?
B&W CM1 is a very small, very nice sounding speaker. My wife loves the appearance in rosewood.Vinny
Airport Express "local clock" issue?
This is late, but try this download from Apple:http://support.apple.com/kb/DL973I found this in the mac users forum for problems relating to pauses, skips, fadeouts relating to using the optical out from the AE to a DAC using Airfoil. I have not t...
Rega Saturn no longer reads CD's
These recurring problems with the Rega Apollo/Saturn is the reason I've kept my Planet 2000.

I get excellent sound and loud enough for me with a CJ CAV-50 45W integrated tube amp, with Vandy 2ce sigII. Of course my room is 14x16x8 ft.Vinny

Best budget speakers for near-field/small space
I have owned the B&W 685 but traded up. They are very good speakers but I don't think they would perform well in the near field. The A5 sounds more like what you may want or the Era Design 5.Vinny

How to tame brightness

802d for a 10x13 room, 8ft ceiling - am I nuts?
802D in that small a room is crazy! I wouldn't even consider it. I get bass boom with small monitors (B&W cm1) and small sub in a 13.5x14x8 ft room. I must dial back the sub to get a nice even musical flow.I would strongly consider, at the mos...
B&W 685 vs Monitor Audio BR5
The 685 needs to be on proper stands to sound there best, not sitting on another speaker! They do need some break-in as well. When these two things are done they do indeed image very well.Vinny
small speakers
I second the B&W 685. Excellent, liked them much more that the CM2 and 705.vin
Tube integrated amps
I'm driving Dahlquist DQ-20's in a medium sized room with a CJ CAV-50 (45 watts/per). I believe the DQ-20's are rated ~86 db (not sure of the if they are 4 ohm nominal). They get plenty loud for me.
Klipsch Speakers for a low power tube amp.
Hi, I responded to another post of yours on the same subject. I was expecting the horn tweeter of the RB-81 to drive me out of the room. The speakers were bright at first but in a short while everything smoothed out and now I don't know what all t...
