Building a HT system using 2ce signatures?
I ran a HT system using 2ce Sigs as the mains for several years.First, to solve your surround speaker issue - get a pair of Vandersteen VLR speakers. They are excellent surround speakers, and you can put them on or in your bookshelves. They'll wor...
Arcam AVR 350 and DV137?
The DV137 is having some pretty severe teething problems, according to early adopters and Arcam. Best to wait until Arcam sorts it out before buying.
ESOTERIC, WADIA -- How do they really sound?
There is an objective construct ---- something made with $100 of parts is not worth $10,000 retail because the majority are willing to pay it.If you can throw $100 of parts into a box and make it sound as good and work as well as Brand X's $10,000...
Esoteric DV-60
rest assured that the DV-50(S) is built very well and will easily handle many more hours than just 400.Hello Dlbd - I'm not questioning the overall build quality of the DV-50S. Nor do I think that a DV-50S can't handle 400 hours of total playing ...
Esoteric DV-60
Play the darn thing 24/7 for 17 days.Since lots of people are dumping their DV50S models to buy a DV60, I was thinking about picking up a used one. You just talked me out of it. 400 hours of constant spinning is abuse, not break-in.
Air conditioning a home theater.
I had a problem similar to yours in my last house. I converted an upstairs bedroom into a HT room. The bedroom had previously been adequately cooled by the upstairs central AC system, but between closing up the room, adding all of the heat-generat...

HELP: How to get rid of AC hums and video noise
Have you tried a ground loop isolator on the cable to your cable box? Oftentimes adding one to a system with TV cable attached will cure hum completely.
The XA9000ES's are hitting the Classifieds Rapidly
Nerve strike? Not at all. I was trying to gently hint that attempting to divine a global trend from what's being sold on Audiogon this week is not a very useful exercise. In most cases, there is insufficient data to draw a substantive conclusion. ...

The_kid wrote:I guess more and more of us are giving up on SACD.. What a great player for $1350.00... Thoughts? There are 17 Cary Audio tube amps for sale in the classifieds. Does that mean people are giving up on tube amps (or Cary Audio products)?
Vandersteen 5A or Eggleston Works Andra II
Evita - the 5A was designed to be used with the speaker grille installed. The cloth face on the speaker is an integral part of the design. Vandersteen told me he chose every single component of the speaker with great care and deliberateness. I wou...
power cords
Hello Metro04 - well, I thought the "miles of wire" myth had been thoroughly debunked, but I see that it lives on.There are no "miles" of anything in the power grid - it is a series of interconnected systems and structures (generating stations, tr...
Am I the only one
If you don't hear a difference, and you've verified that nothing is wrong with your setup, try a different type of cable, or return the cables and put your money back in your pocket.
Is there a difference in balanced cables??
Jafox wrote:blilikoi: What I suspect the dealer meant was that many electronic components with XLR connections are not truly balanced. However, it is very easy to determine if ICs with XLR connectors are balanced: verify with a multi-meter that al...
New high-end Sony SACD player
This player is not new. It was released in Japan in 2004. It's never been sold outside of Japan.
