Where do you sit?
To KillerpigletMy wife and I have been listening for thirty years on giant bean bags with multiple buckwheat husk pillows to support our heads. With my sigtech I can get rid of the small high bass dip caused by them. When your top favorites includ...
Best CD scratch repair/cleaning machine
Another vote for skip/data doctor. It works. A final polish with Bendini or mapleshade helps.
Where do you sit?
Giant Bean bags set on futons to raise the ear to proper height.
Are Linn Tukans a bit on the bright side?
I'm listening to a pair right now in my office and yes they are bright
Sound Quality: "Stereo-Link" vs. Sound Card
I use a stereo link in my office system along with a Jolida 302 and Linn Tukans. Big difference over the stock sound card. BTW it was designed by the Sigtech people.
Melos Audio MAT 1000 or Audio Research VT 200?
There were many versions of the Melos 400 watt monoblocks, the MAT1000 was towards the end but not the very last one.I have the last production model (probably the last unit)before the final bankruptcy. The MAT 1000 is an earlir version with a sma...
Revel Studio or Salon?
If you primarily listen to music I would recommend the Salons. HT or HT and music then seriously consider the Ultima. I would not buy the Studios for your size room.
Cough vigilante
This isn't PLS1, but his wife, EMM4 (don't have my own log-in yet, as this is my first post). In 30 years of concert-going, it's gotten worse. At CSO concerts in the 70's it wasn't too bad, even in the winter, but we sat in the Gallery (best acoust...
How do you all store CDs?
CD's are just a pain to store if you kep te jewel cases. I had custom oak shelves (match the rest of the wood trim) put up on some wasted wall space in a hall off the listening room that would be two narrow for anything deeper than CD's. Foor to c...

Below 20 HZ Notes/Instruments
I'll dig out another list of low bass CD's that I only have on paper. As for acoustic instruments it is pretty much a few pipe organs to 16HZ. The extended double bass and contrabassoon bottom at 27Hz. However the big Bosendorfer grand piano has a...
Below 20 HZ Notes/Instruments
You might want to check out this list of "Top 30 Bass CD's"http://www.oakland.edu/~djcarlst/basscds.htm
Below 20 HZ Notes/Instruments
Even if you cross over at 21 Hz you will still tend to blurr the imact of the SC-V's on music. The ears sensitivity increases enormously as the tone goes from 21 to 42 to 63 to 84 based on the Fletche Munson curves. This effect will be magnified b...
Below 20 HZ Notes/Instruments
I also own SC-V's. I listen to a fair amount of organ and electronica which are the only instruments with fundamentals below 27Hz. I use a Sigtech and with a realtime analyzer measure my Sigtech corrected Dunlavy's flat to 22 Hz with very decent o...
Suspended vs. Non Suspended TT on Concrete Floor
Before you pour the concrete you may want to consider my experiences. Reinforced concrete does have a very noticeable resonance. That is why industrial labs use fairly elaborate vibration control engineering in critical applications and don’t just...
