The Arm/Cartridge Matching Myth
Halcro, I was trying to make the point that if one knows which arm or arms a cartridge designer used to develop a particular cartridge, he could then perhaps assume that that cartridge/tone arm match is pretty good, at least in the mind of the car...
The Arm/Cartridge Matching Myth
Halcro, my post is not about tone arm designers. It is about cartridge designers.
The Arm/Cartridge Matching Myth
Very interesting Halcro. Thanks for the post. I suppose another approach is to try to find out which arms the cartridge designers used while developing your cartridge. Then you would at least get closer to what those designers like. The problem is ...
BEST CART FOR SMEV12 ARM at TW BLACK NIGHT TT
Dreamauduio, What do you think of the Supreme on your V-12?
Trans Fi Salvation direct rim drive turntable
Can you guys share some photos of these maglev feet? I'm curious about their size and what keeps the plinth stable and not wanting to float sideways. Sounds like a great solution.
Anyone auditioned Pass Labs XP-30 preamp?
That is a very interesting comment. Love it! I've got the XP-20 and can't yet afford to buy the XP-30. What was in the rest of that system in NY?
Are there other Artisan Fidelity TT owners aorund?
I just noticed that Artisan Fidelity has an SME 30/12 listed for sale. I'm very curious to know if they compared its sound to some of the turntables that they has restored to such a high level recently. I would find it very interesting to hear how...
proper Tannoy Canterbury room set up
Bullot, I know that Jim Smith owns Tannoy speakers, and I think they are the Caterbury model. Perhaps you can do a search for Jim on the net and contact him with set up questions. I have found him to be extremely knowledgeable and willing to offer...
Airtight vs My Sonic Lab
Here is a link to my comparison between the My Sonic Labs Signature Gold and the AirTight Supreme cartridges:http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?10183-My-Sonic-Labs-Gold-Signature-VS-Air-Tight-Supreme/page2For some time now I have been in...
Magico S5 vs Tannoy Westminster Royal SE
Mbovaird, did you happen to listen to your Magico S5, Wilson Alexia and Tannoy Canterbury in the same room/system and do a proper direct comparison, or are your opinions based on a more general feeling having heard them in different settings? Are ...
Pass Labs Amp X350.5 or X350.8 anyone compare?
I've always had great service from Reno HiFi. Glad you had the same, Ozzy. I would expect nothing less from Mark. Someone will get a good deal on that X350.8 that Ozzy had for audition when it is sold as a demo unit at a reduced price.
Brinkmann/Spiral Groove/TW Acustic Black Night...?
Kwb, The Balance is belt drive, correct? I've heard both of those in the same system and I agree with your observations. I'm curious. As a dealer, do you recommend any form of isolation under the Brinkmann tables? I heard them under Vibraplanes, a...
Comparing the Pass Labs XA30.5 to the XA 30.8
I've had nothing but GREAT transactions with RENO HiFi and find Mark's personality very pleasant and helpful.Yours is the first negative comment I've ever read about RENO. Sorry to hear it.
Transparent Cable Upgrade?
Mattmiller, Transparent does not have "Poles of articulation". That is unique to MIT. If you talk to MIT folks, their boxes are very different from Transparent boxes.Like Jfrech, dynamics, impact, attack and decay all IMPROVED when I switched to T...
Comparing the Pass Labs XA30.5 to the XA 30.8
French_fries, I came to that same conclusion when I considered upgrading my XA160.5 to the XA160.8. The price jump is simply too much for me. But, if coming from another brand, tube amps or even the X or X.5 line, it might very well be worth getti...
