Best Passive Pre-amp with remote??
What does passive preamp mean -- do not do anything to the sound -- make it only quiet! If the voltage is high enough to feed power amplifier than we're good with only one stage of amplification. So it comes to true that if we're buying Placette o...
ultimate interconnect recommendations
http://www.geocities.com/venhaus1/diysilverinterconnects.html will be an inexpencive example of newtral and efficient all-purpouse interconnects.for a cheaper version the 30ga wire from RadioShack can be used.
Best Passive Pre-amp with remote??
..Heh! If you go to www.marchandelec.com you can get either assembled or all necessary quality parts to assemble a world class passive preamp but without remote that will be 5X cheaper than Placette(bellow $300).
Need a quality Y-adapter for bi-amping
Any Y-adapter will always add extra reactance from itself + extra reactive loads from each amplifier into one output of your preamp. The result will be extraneous harmonic distortions Algthough you will win in dynamics if you feel you havn't enoug...
Best Passive Pre-amp with remote??
...either it has to be motor powered attenuator or it has to be electronic attenuator. Either way it's not going to be "pure passive" preamp...
CD Clubs -Press their own CD's?
...that's just what I thoght it is, Gs5556! -- Very informative and I am now more shure that I'm not nuts
24/96 or 24/192
If you're onto listening regular CDs -- there should not be any difference except that extra oversampling will "forgive" most of badly recorded CDs and make them sound nicer than they have to.If you will get a collection of video format CDs than 2...
CD Clubs -Press their own CD's?
What I know is BMG labeled CDs are much worse in sound quality than same artist/album non-BMG which gives me an idea that they remanufacture CDs with poor bulk quality. Columbia House is OK in that direction since they trade with originally presse...
Electrical gurus please help....
1. Hospital grade sockets are always better because in addition to industrial they're designed to be quiet. 2. Most likely PS Audio powerplant will not handle your AVR due to the lack of delivered power. It's only for CD/DVD-player, turntable moto...
High output dacs/CD players
For most power amps 2v input is close-to-peak voltage. Anything higher than that has to be attenuated. Very often there is no need for active preamp for that reason. Just make sure that you have input impedance of the poweramp ~10x output impedanc...
Passive Preamp Project vol. II
Bingo! That's what I've ment! -- Right onto the point Justilisten!
Why so many Power plants for sale?
Power regeneration like on PS audio powerplants is good for low power sources but not for power amplifiers or expencive tube CD players or phono-stages since it doesn't have that capability to deliver enough power into. In fact it seems more and m...
speaker cables with a warm sound
As far as I've heard, Nirvana has a very worm "black" background and it's very friendly to the tube outputs
Perpetual Tech Dac vs DCS or Wadia Dacs
I agree with Sattothestars since my EAD DSP 7000 mkII will easyly outperform 2 PT plastic matchboxes together.
Problems with Passive Preamp, please Help
I think that there is nothing wrong with impedance matching. the input sencitivity of the power amp has to be <=500mV@1Khz in order to be able to operate 3V output from DAC with passive preamp.
