Parasound P/LD-2000
Yep, Ktatterbugaol has it. The power supply is the weak point on this pre; too small. add an outboard 500VA toroid power trans, and the thing really comes to life. Will cost you 50-60 bucks if you do it yourself.
The VPI Rim Drive
Stringreen, Hope you enjoy Arizona. Be sure to check out Revolution Records down on Indian School and 7 Ave. And down in Tucson take a day to go through PDQ. BestJohn
Technics 1210/RB-250 vs. stock arm + fluid damper
Have to agreee with Tvad, not sure I would say the rega is better than the technics arm.........defininate not if you send it back to KAB and get it re-wired with the Cardas wire. I was really surprised at how well the Technics table from KAB perf...
Device to record & playback music ?
Follow Dopogue's suggestion. The only thing I will add is if you want higher resolution than Red Book CD, go for Tascam's DV-RA1000 high res. digital recorder. I will plug into your system just like a cassette deck or CD recorder would. As for CD ...
Budget Phono Stage w/100k Loading for MMs?
The loading on a MM is going to effect the high freq. If you want to do it right, get a NAB broadcast test disc, which has all the frequencies on it, and you can dial in the loading for your specific cart, so its ruler flat at the high end. Anythi...
Technics SL1200MK2 Cartridge Discussion
be sure to add the 199.00 benz micro, at what ever output level works.
Yamaha CX-10000 centennial preamp
Richard, if you do a few upgrades to the CX, it will really sing. I have done similar upgrades to teh CX-1 with outstanding results. JOHn
Computer speakers?
I was in the same position. Try the Infinty Beta 10's and drive them with a parasound sound Zamp, the version 3 has 45 or 50 watts per channel. You do the whole combo for under 500 bucks and get decent PC sound. Spend a bit more and get a better s...
Reel 2 Reel
Otari MTR-10 and Otari MTR-15 with up graded electronics. also as the auto bias feature which is nice; will auto bias any tape I load on it.
PC connect to audiophyle system
I would look into the M-Audio Audiophile PCI card. quite good sound and very low noise level. J
Anybody familiar with Mundorf silver&oil caps
Paul, I can not comment on that particular cap, since I have not used it, but with double and triple bypasses in general one can really change the sonic quality of the piece. I would experiment a bit before setting on a specific value. As long as ...
Audio Research tube problem with Aragon 4004 MKII
I had a similar problem as Kenscollick did. If you are set on using a tube pre with the 4004, you'll need to add a DC blocking cap for both channels. I know' direct is supposed to be better, but in this case, your options are limited. Add a film c...
New to vinyl again
Yes, Czbbcl is correct, purchase a good record cleaning system. That is super important for listening to LPs. Nitty Gritty and VPI both make them, and while you are at it, purchase some new sleeves to so you are not sliding that freshly cleaned re...
Rewiring a Well Tempered tonearm- thoughts?
Yes, Schipo is correct. Cardas makes kits to re-do the arm. Quite an improvment over the stock wire. There are also a few companies that will do it for you if you do not wnat to tackle it yourself. J
Help in reducing distortion from old mono records.
Chris, its possible the copy you bought was played by its previous owner who had a table and cart that did not track well, adn likely damaged the grooves. If that is the case, then your best bet is to look for another copy. One thing you can try i...
