You can buy a used pair of Dynaudio Confidence C4's for under $10K. I just LOVE these speakers! (and so does my wife....high WAF due to styling).

Do you think that this illustrates the importance of the Fletcher-Munson effect? In the old days, there was a 'loudness' button which would increase bass output at low volumes, and to me, this made low volume listening much more enjoyable. Nowaday...

The McIntosh C45 is specifically designed with 5.1 pass through capability. I believe it has 2 sets of 6 channels, plus stereo inputs as well.

Dynaudio Confidence C4
I have C4s powered by 500W Mac monoblocks. Don't think that 60W would cut it. Suppose it depends how loud you listen, but I still think that 60W would be marginal at best.

I'm using a C42 with my MC501s. I think the C42 is quite similar to the C46 electronically speaking. In any case, I really like this combo, so I have no doubt that a C46/MC501 pairing would be great. Of course the biggest difference with the C200 ...

I generally concur with the previous poster. I upgraded from a C41 to a C42 in my system. As near as I can tell, the only difference between the 42 and the new 46 is that you get a bigger display and fiberoptic lighting. So you might consider a us... 
CD players in $2K range with balanced output
Mac MCD205...used. Can't go wrong. You can find them around $1500.Better yet, buy a used Mac MVP851 for right in the $2k range.
